GNOME PROJECT
This device consists of one pipe rotating about another pipe on a self-made track system, with gnomes equally spaced around the pipe. A laser and a receiver are located on opposite ends of said track. Any time a gnome is in front of the viewing window, the laser is broken. The animation portrays a jolly gnome whose pants whimsically fall to his feet. In shock, he opens his mouth. In the future, this animation will be expanded by subsequently having his skin fall off revealing his muscles, which in turn will tumble to reveal his bones. Minus the severity, this piece humorously evokes Hamlet’s first soliloquy, “O’ that this too, too, sullied flesh would melt like dew.”
